Every day we can make a decision to have a good day
Every day, I get to decide. I get to decide how my day will go. Even in the face of uncertainty, doubt, and known adversity ahead, I can make a decision to have good day or a crappy day. My attitude has a direct impact on the decisions I make throughout any given day.
This mindset is vital all days, but, even more vital when I know I will face a tough day. We are currently living in a time period where it can be easy to go inward and have a crappy attitude. We are all having to change how we live our daily lives in many ways. Even if you aren't changing a thing about your daily routine, you would have to be living under a rock to not be thinking about the changes our society has faced in the last week. Even with that, I can choose to have a positive attitude.
These are the times where we can wake up and say to ourselves that no matter what I am going to make this the best day possible given the circumstances. A man who has since passed on, who I learned from in my early days in recovery, had the saying "we must have the right attitude". We can choose, even in the toughest of times, to have the right attitude and find ways to see the good in the day. We can choose to see the light in our lives rather than the darkness.
The right attitude is one that says we can make healthy choices in tough times. An attitude that says we can be kind to each other in stressful times. An attitude that says we can look outside ourselves and help others even when a large part of us only wants to worry about our individual needs. Having the right attitude is something that takes a willingness to be aware of what we are doing and how we are feeling.
Make today a day where you will choose to have the right attitude.
