Young men...it's time to step up!

I see young men who say that want 'this' and 'that', complain about their surroundings and want them to change.  I see young men who still live at home, free room and board; even have cars handed to them by family. They drive around looking "cool" and "hard"; but yet they can't feed themselves.   They rely on others for basic needs AND if you question this; they say "you don't understand."  I see them getting handed money and resources by those who do it in the name of "love"; is it love?  Or is it something else.  Regardless, it is happening on a daily basis in many homes in our nation.   When I say anything to question this I am given excuses, anger, and the all to often statement "You don't understand".

Really?  I don't understand?  Ok fine.   Here is what I DO understand.... I understand and hear again and again that there are many in the world around you waiting and watching.  There are older men in society waiting for young men to step up to the plate and get a job.  Start doing SOMETHING to be self sufficient for themselves and their families.  Ya know I get heartache and pain, I get suffering, I get that things in this world suck.   Great, now what????

For me, it wasn't until others in my world said some things that struck a chord in my heart.  What were those things?   -"get a job"  -"you need to help out around the house if you are going to live here free" -"you are thousands behind in child support" -"your son needs you" -"how's the job hunt going (a thousand times)"

I care deeply about the young men in my circle of life and KNOW that each one of them are more than capable of doing great things in this world.   I am waiting and watching.
